Veggie Quilting

My customer, Jada, made this bright and vibrant garden quilt for one of her co-workers who is retiring.

What a wonderful use of color! There are so many wonderful prints in this lap size quilt.

I was lucky enough to quilt it for her. When I saw it I immediately knew I wanted to do an allover veggie quilting design. Well, not all veggies because there are a few apples, peaches, pears and strawberries thrown in for good measure.

The first photo is the top after quilting.

The second photo is the back of the quilt. (Sorry, the photo came out a little fuzzy.) Jada decided to use a solid green as the backing to better showcase the quilting design.

We used a wonderful variegated thread from King Tut and the quilting was inspired by Laura Lee Fritz. She has a couple of books on her technique and she does fantastic freehand quilting. I have used her ideas as starting points for a lot of quilting.

I kept thinking as I was quilting along - "Wow, I'm having a quiltin' V-8!" :D
